Overall experience

Cracking Good Food launched in March 2010, at Chorlton’s Big Green Festival, with the aim of getting more people in the North West to cook and eat homemade food, by teaching both the paying public and community groups. We believe cooking is a vital life skill that everyone should have the opportunity to learn, so in order to be accessible to as many people as possible, our paid-for courses are some of the cheapest in the region as we only charge for genuine costs. We were fortunate enough to be supported for our first two years by the Local Food Fund, part of The Big Lottery, and we are currently seeking new revenue streams to fund our community outreach programme.

We were shortlisted as a Food & Drink Pioneer in 2012’s Manchester Food & Drink Festival Awards and Commended in the Greater Manchester Probation Trust Staff Recognition Awards 2012 for our work with ex-offenders.

In 2013 we were listed as the best place in Manchester to learn to cook, by Visit Manchester.
